Introduction
Finally, our website is functional. Some of it at least. Let me introduce myself, my role at Xenocell, and I will reveal some tech details about the game.
Hi. My name's Konrad Kiss. I'm the lead designer and developer of Xenocell. My task is keeping all the strings in one hand, refining design, and implementing some part of the game's code. Also, I'm in charge of supervising other people's work - programmers, graphic designers and musicians. The game's original idea came from a few years back, when I created and administrated a web browser based game called Droidarena. I know that web browser based games do not have much in common with desktop clients, but the world of Droidarena became so interesting to me - through various fan fiction and art - that I started working on a spin-off of that universe. The story had a human spaceship successfully jumping to Alpha Centauri for the first time, where two warring alien races annihilate the entire human fleet, forcing the few survivor colonists and military personnel to crash land on one of the systems planets. You can read more details in the news I put up a while ago.
During Droidarena, I have worked with several tens of thousands of players, and gathered some experience about how important player-player and dev-player communication can be in a game, and why it needs constant development. I have really cool ideas that - I hope - will take the solution to this matter to a whole new level in this game (compared to other MMORPGs).
Well, anyway, our website is up. That finally tells me that we are getting somewhere. Of course it still needs much content, but each week I will be sharing new details, screenshots, stories and tech details about the game.
For the tech-savvy who are interested in what's driving it all, we are working with GarageGames' TGE Advanced engine. This gives us an incredible technological head-start, and since this is no multi-billion dollar project, we are extremely happy, that does not weight heavily on our rather limited (indie) budget - allowing us to spend more resources on.. pretty much anything else. Cheers, GG.
Allright, I guess that's all for today, but in a few days I will write more about the game in general - character choices, missions, vehicles and clans.
